I came up with this recipe yesterday after my husband and I picked a bunch of fresh basil from our garden. I had ground beef thawing in the fridge to make burgers for dinner, but after I smelled the aroma of fresh basil, I knew I needed to figure out a burger recipe to make with it. The flavor was amazing and the burger was so filling. Enjoy!
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
4 Tablespoons fresh minced basil
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1/2 Teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 Teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 Teaspoon pepper
6 Slices crisp bacon
Avocado, ripe, peeled and sliced
4 Sour-French Rolls
Bake or fry bacon until crisp. When done, place on paper towel and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, basil, olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well.
Shape into four oblong patties.
Grill patties over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes on each side.
Slice rolls in half and toast.
Spread desired amount of cream cheese on rolls. Add lettuce to bottom roll, patty, avocado, two slices of bacon and top with other half of roll.
