Strawberry Shortcake
This is a recipe my mother taught me how to make when I was about 12 years old. Definitely a summer favorite in our family! Please feel free to leave me a comment below and let me know what you think of my family recipe.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Strawberry ShortcakeIngredients:

2 lbs. fresh strawberries
Sugar
Box of yellow cake mix (see box for further ingredients)
4.6-oz. vanilla instant pudding (see box for further ingredients)
Whipping Cream, half pint
1 Tbsp. Vanilla extract

 

 

Directions:

First slice strawberries, add them to a medium bowl and add desired amount of sugar and mix. Cover with plastic wrap and let chill in the fridge from several hours to overnight. Next, make the cake according to the directions on the box, pouring the mixture in a 13×9 baking pan. Bake as directed and let cool completely. Make pudding according to the directions on the box. Spread the mixture evenly on top of the cake. Note: You may have some pudding left over! :) Spoon strawberries over pudding evenly. Make whipping cream according to the direction on the carton, adding 1 Tbsp. of  sugar and 1 tsp. of vanilla extract.  Spread whipping cream on top of  strawberries or add after cutting a slice!  Enjoy!!
