There are so many great comfort food recipes in this cookbook.  Since it is October, I thought I would keep with the Fall theme and review the recipe from the cookbook called “Sweet Apple Dip”.

Ingredients:

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup sugarSweet Apple Dip
1 tsp. vanilla extract
apple slices

Directions:

In a bowl, blend together all ingredients except apples. Serve with apple slices. Serve immediately or chill; refrigerate any leftovers. Serves 10.

This recipe is so easy and so YUMMY! It’s like a cream cheese caramel  and goes great with Granny Smith apples. It’s perfect for any get-together.

Updates and Upcoming Giveaway!

Well it’s July 5th and I already have Autumn on the brain! I’m counting down the days til I can decorate, which is usually August 15th, but one of my good friends does it August 1st and I just may have to do that day too :P If my husband is reading this, I’m sorry!
I’m getting ready to update my site with a new look! I’m very excited about it and I’m even more excited to announce that with the relaunch of my site I will be doing a Gooseberry Patch Giveaway! Gooseberry Patch was very kind to give me permission to use any of their cookbooks for Giveaways on my site. So a big THANK YOU to Gooseberry Patch!
Along with the relaunch, I’ll be posting new recipes every day, ones of my own (thank you to my wonderful friends and family for being my guinea pigs!) and ones from the Gooseberry Patch cookbook I’ll be giving away. I’ll also be posting a lot more on here so it won’t be months before you see something new. ;) I also have yet to post something crafty on here, but that won’t be til around Autumn/Winter as that’s when I get in my craft zone.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth of July and are staying cool this Summer!

**Are you a Gooseberry Patch fan? Do you own any of their books? Leave me a comment of which book and recipe is your favorite**

Thanksgiving 2013!

Now that Halloween is over, the Holiday Season as officially begun! I have had my Thanksgiving menu planned out since August with some changes that I have made in the last week or so to what I will be serving. I recently subscribed to Food Network Magazine and last week I received the Thanksgiving Edition. If you don’t have this issue I highly suggest getting it! It has many recipes, tips and tricks to help make your Thanksgiving foolproof. Here is what I have planned for Thanksgiving Day:

Dry-Brined Turkey

Homemade Stuffing

Spiced Apple-Cranberry Sauce

Crock-Pot Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes

Gravy

Sweet Potato Souffle

Green Beans with Cherry Tomatoes

Homemade Dinner Rolls Apple Lattice Pie & Pumpkin Pie

I always get started on my prepping a week before til down to the day, depending on what it is. The cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes I always make two days before with the potatoes going into the crock-pot the day of and the stuffing I can get prepped the day before. It’s nice to get things done before so you have plenty of time to visit with family, watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade or even start decorating for Christmas!

Leave me a comment and tell me what kind of traditions you have at your house every Thanksgiving.

Baby Pumpkins!

Baby PumpkinI planted pumpkin seeds for the first time ever this past June and a couple days ago the first pumpkin came up! I was nervous at first that we wouldn’t get anything because our backyard is all grass and the left side of it has rocks all along it so I didn’t think if we used a huge planter box it would grow anything. Then I talked to my mother-in-laws boyfriend, who has the best green thumb next to my mom, and he said if we used one of our half wine barrels, it will grow. And it did! Since first planting, it has been growing like crazy and has been getting so many blooms, but I finally got my pumpkin and I can’t wait to see more come up. :) I mainly planted seeds for my son so he can pick which ever pumpkin he wants for Halloween, the rest I will using for baking and also for decorating for my pumpkin themed baby shower in October and of course Halloween. So what do you have growing in your garden?? :)

Here’s some recipes that will be comping up in the next couple of months that I will be making with the pumpkins: Pumpkins!
– Homemade Pumpkin Puree
– Pumpkin Spice Latte
– Pumpkin Roll
– Pumpkin Cheesecake
– And more!

My apple tree is also filling with apples, but I will be making a lot of goodies with those too. Here is one recipe that I am very excited to make with them… My version of Mrs. Prindables candy coated apples! :)

Let me know if you have any recipes for the Fall that you would like to me try or do a review on and I will put it on my list. I haven’t forgotten my Gooseberry Patch review that I was planning on doing back in the Spring, that will be coming up in the next week or two, so be sure to look out for that!
